The duo has a put pilot commitment with ABC to write and executive produce a drama about the Secret Service.According to the Hollywood Reporter, the new series, produced through Touchstone TV, will focus on a young woman balancing her career in the Secret Service with her marriage. Kurtzman-Counter describes the show as a hybrid of "The French Connection" and "thirtysomething.""Most people think of the Secret Service as men with sunglasses on, running next to a limousine," Orci tells the HP. They think [Secret Service agents] only protect people and don't know that they start off as detectives. In the 140 years since its inception, they've turned into one of the most complicated agencies in the entire government. Their duties are huge, and no one knows that."
The pair will executive produce the new series with Francie Calfo and "Alias" director/executive producer Ken Olin has been recruited to helm the pilot, which would be developed for the 2004 fall season.Before "Alias," Kurtzman-Counter and Orci worked together on the syndicated Bruce Campbell series "Jack of All Trades." They've also written a feature script, "Tell No One," with Michael Apted attached to direct."Bob and Alex are two of the most talented writers and executive producers we are currently in business with," says Stephen McPherson, the president of Touchstone TV. "They have done a phenomenal job of 'Alias' and this new project is a captivating, original concept."
